How Can I Help a Family Member Immigrate?
Your status determines which relatives (or future relatives) may be eligible to receive immigration benefits. In order to help a family member immigrate, you must be a:
U.S. CITIZENS-- can petition for a spouse, unmarried children under 21, sons and daughters over 21 whether married or not, parents (if the citizen is over 21) and siblings (if the citizen in over 21). There are no quotas for a U.S. citizen to petition for a spouse, widow or unmarried child under the age or 21 or for parents of adult US citizens.
GREEN CARD HOLDERS (permanent residents) -- can petition for a spouse, unmarried children under 21, or unmarried sons or daughters.
REFUGEE admitted as a refugee within the past 2 years or ASYLEE granted asylum within the past 2 years
